This print dates from the early 1800s and is known as ‘The movements of the Comet,” a playful illustration on the idea. It comes out of the Revolutionary Bohemian days in Paris of the early 19th Century and was a big influence on the Surrealists of the 20th Century.
It features a woman in a long gown who’s form mimics that of a shooting comet, as well as star constellation chandeliers, and other pre-surrealist associations.
